Очень известный корабль именно на нем советская делегация в 1952г. прибыла в Англию на коронацию Елизаветы II. Британские шпионы-водолазы пытались изучить винты "Свердлова" новейшую инженерную разработку.
В период 1978-1989гг. находился на консервации в Лиепае (пирс 23), в 1990г. оттуда уведен на слом.
