По условиям Версальского мирного договора боевые корабли флотов Центральных держав передавались странам-победительницам. «Prinz Eugen», переданный Франции, использовался для опытов по бомбардировке корабля с воздуха и обстрелу артиллерией крупных калибров с французских линкоров. Потоплен артогнём линкоров французской Средиземноморской эскадры 28 июня 1922 года.
