В 1948 г. после кончины основателя Leathem D. Smith Shipbuilding была продана собственному руководству и переименована в Christy Corp.
В 1967 г. Christy Corp была куплена Manitowoc Corporation и в результате объединения с Sturgeon Bay Shipbuilding была образована Bay Shipbuilding.
В 2008 г. Fincantieri приобрела у Manitowoc Corporation входящую в неё Marine Group (вклюючающую помимо Bay Shipbuilding также Marinette Marine и Cleveland Ship Repair), в результате чего она была переименована в Fincantieri Marine Group.
