Расход топлива и выбросы в атмосферу опять же.
Практически одни плюсы, кроме скорости доставки. Но у нас об этом почему-то "забыли".

Связи никакой. Сначала надо подумать, что возят в баржах, и что возят по дорогам... И куда и откуда.

Да, у некоторых принято сравнивать эффективность по мощности - например сравнивают толкач 800 л.с. с баржей г.п. 5000 т и тепловоз 2000 л.с. с составом с тем же грузом - эффективность буксира вроде выше в 2.5 раза. А если учесть, что скорость буксиного состава прядка 10 км/час, а грузового поезда 30-40 км/час, то есть время в пути у буксира в 3 - 4 раза больше. Вот и нет экономии топлива, нужно учесть еще, что для больших маршрутов расстояние по реке раза в 2 длиннее. Так, что там где развиты сухопутные пути река не выдерживает конкуренции, как это произошло, например, на Оке.

Нет здесь никакой загадки. Возят насыпные грузы -щебень песок зерно также металлолом, лес итд. То же что возится самым отбитым типом грузового автотрансопрта -тонарами , самосвалами, лесовозами, которые могут за год перегрузом убить участок дороги а тонары вдобавок ещё и самые частые причины ДТП в последнее время.

Ничего не поняли. Песок, щебень и лес никто из Карелии в условный Саратов на автомобиле не возит. Но посреди леса вы баржу брёвнами не загрузите. И щебень прямо с причала на стройку по волшебству не телепортируется. Так что это очень слабо пересекающиеся перевозки.
