Обычно так ставят, чтобы дачникам было куда вёдра и сумки ставить. Или так ставят, чтобы сделать танцпол.

На моей "москвушке" также было. Только у нас для танцпола было сделано, а когда ставили на "дачные" линии то неудобно: люди друг на дружку смотрят...
