Судно с катапультами "Heinkel" для запуска тяжелых летающих лодок (Do-15, Do-18 и ВV-138) взлётной массой до 20 т. Военные аналоги гражданских катапультных судов, обслуживавших трансатлантические линии авиакомпании "Lufthansa". Развитие типа "Sperber". Для подъема самолетов с воды на катапульту оборудованы 20-т башенными кранами с вылетом стрелы 12 м. Для заправки самолётов принимали 120 т. авиатоплива. Оснащалось крыльчатыми движителями "Войт-Шнайдер".
