Первое отечественное пожарное судно, колёсный пароход. Корабль-«огнеборец» был быстроходнее всех волжских судов, мог буксировать против течения 13 барж одновременно и близко подходить к мелям. В июле 1896 прогулку по Оке и Волге на нём совершил император Николай II с супругой и свитой.
