Скорость строительства сильно снизилась из-за приоритета военных заказов. 13 ноября 1915 года был реквизирован Адмиралтейством как госпитальное судно. Работа по преобразованию незаконченного лайнера шла полным ходом В первый рейс отправился 23 декабря 1915 года в порт города Мудрос 21 ноября 1916 года в 08:12 налетел на минное поле, выставленное немецкой подводной лодкой U73 под командой Густава Зисса Через 55 минут опрокинулся на правый борт и ушёл под воду. Всего погибло 30 человек (21 затянуло под вращающиеся винты, 9 погибли на судне) | |
