Одним из отличий теплохода Ракета-172 был рисунок звезды на носу. Осенью 1991 года, во время перегона Ракеты-172 в затон Новинки, произошло столкновение теплохода с баржей. У Ракеты-172 были сильные повреждения крыльевого устройства, однако капитану удалось довести свой теплоход до затона, где позднее судно подняли на слип. После серьезных повреждений восстанавливать Ракету-172 не стали и в 1994 году судно было утилизировано.
