16 января 1962 года на переходе из Бордо (Франция) на Чёрное море при выходе в Бискайский залив в условиях сильного шторма сел на мель в устье реки Жиронда на западном побережье Франции. После затопления машинного отделения судно разломилось. Все члены экипажа были спасены и поселены в гостиницу. Части корпуса были подняты и разделаны.
