Траулер "Чердынь" затонул 23.03.1975 в результате взрыва у острова Аскольд. Судно вытащило вместе с тралом неопознанный металлический объект, вероятно — оставшуюся со времен войны бомбу. Капитан решил выбросить находку в море, но прозвучал взрыв. Правый борт траулера сильно повредило взрывом, в трюм №2 начала поступать забортная вода. Через час траулер затонул. Все члены экипажа были подобраны траулером "Ратьково".
