В случае с плавучими кранами обозначение "Т" - это сокращение от "Теплоход", по названию завода.
В послевоенные годы крановая техника в документах пароходств обозначалась не только эксплуатационными номерами, но и литерами, указывающими на завод-изготовитель крана. РМЗ, СБ, позднее Ганц - это, что называется, на слуху. Для портальных кранов тоже были свои сокращения.
В документах ЛОРПа доводилось встречать обозначения "теплоходец №72" или "теплоходец-28".
