С 1977 года океанографическое исследовательское судно.
В 2003г. судно продано на металлолом Латвийской компании. При буксировке в штормовую погоду датским буксиром в результате обрыва троса судно село на мель 30.12.2003 у западного побережья острова Гогланд (Gogland). Где и находится по состоянию на 2016 год.

Пр.1886У. 17 октября 1997 г. спущен флаг ВМФ России и исключен из списков ВМФ и передан Морским силам ФПС, но пограничники флаг так и не подняли.
