Док построен в виде двух секций в 1953-1954 году. После перегона во Владивосток, в 1955 году, секции были соединены и омоноличены по контуру по специальной технологии на плаву. Для этого был предусмотрен на каждой секции стыковочный узел в районе 40 и 42 шпангоутов. После распада Советского Союза док был продан Первомайскому судоремонтному заводу. После ликвидации завода его арендовал, а затем приобрел ООО СК "Первомайское". С этого момента док находился на территории 178 СРЗ. После ликвидации 178 СРЗ СК "Первомайское" вынужденно перевело док в бухту Диомид".
