В период с 16.06.1993 по 02.10.1993 г. на Военно-морском заводе (г. Кронштадт) проведена модернизация на класс плавания «М-СП». 3 февраля 2003 года во время шторма в Чёрном море судно дало трещину в районе 1-го трюма, переломилось и затонуло в 65 милях северо-восточнее пролива Босфор. Погибли 14 человек экипажа.
