В 1996 году переименован в честь бывшего начальника ЗСРП Виктора Гашкова, который в 1960-х гг. принимал в пароходство многие суда.
В 2002-2003 гг. работал под гостиницей в Селиярово (Ханты-Мансийский район).
С 2004г. выведен из эксплуатации.
В апреле 2013г. взамен главных двигателей 8NVD36-1U, установлены двигатели B6190ZLC (2х300 кВт).
