Построено: 19.05.1973 г. ПЛЭС вошла в состав предприятий РЭУ "Якутскэнерго" Минэнерго СССР и 8 июня 1973 года вышла в плавание по Северному морскому пути по маршруту Тюмень-Тобольск-Салехард-Диксон-Тикси. 30 октября 1973 года(по другим данным — 17 сентября) ПЛЭС прибыла в посёлок Сангар и встала на зимовку. В это время случилась авария в шахтёрском поселке и "Северное сияние-3" свой первый запуск произвела в Сангаре и всю суровую зиму отработала на реке Лена. И только 6 августа 1974 года прибыла к месту постоянной эксплуатации — в посёлок Эльдикан. Для подхода и эксплуатации ПЛЭС был выкопан специальный канал, создан затон и 14 декабря 1974 года плавучая электростанция выдала первый промышленный ток. Выведено из эксплуатации в 2009 году.
