Железный колесный буксирный пароход построен на верфи Andrew Woodhouse, Саут-Шилдс, для фирмы «Брандт и К°». С 1849 перевозил пассажиров из Архангельска на Соловецкие острова и обратно. 21 июня 1858 на нём отбыл из Архангельска вверх по Северной Двине император Александр II. Приписан к порту Архангельск под № 285 (1894), владелец купец Адольф Шольц.
