26.06.1938 вышел из Кронштадта во Владивосток через Панамский канал, прибыл во Владивосток 17.10.1938 г. и вошел в состав ТОФ. 23.11.1939 г. переформирован в учебный корабль. 28.10.1941 г. вооружён (2×100 мм, 2×7.62 мм пулемёты) и переклассифицирован в сторожевой корабль. Участвовал в Маньчжурской наступательной операции в августе 1945 г. Погиб от подрыва на мине в районе порта Гензан (Вонсан) 20.08.1945 г. Впоследствии поднят и введен в строй как гидрографическое судно
