30 июля 1942 года сгорело и затонуло после бомбардировки в районе Каменного Яра, ниже Сталинграда. В ходе аварийно-спасательных работ кормовую часть (примерно 2/3 длины корпуса) поставили на плав, после чего отбуксировали ее для разборки на металлолом и снятия годных элементов для повторного использовании в нуждах флота. Обломки носовой части убраны на левый берег во избежание помех судоходству.
