Технические средства подъёма АПЛ К-141 «Курск» размещались на барже «Giant 4». Баржа прошла серьёзную модернизацию на верфи Shipdock Amsterdam (Голландия). Корпус баржи во многих местах был упрочнен. На ней были установлены двадцать шесть домкратов и компенсаторов с катушками большого диаметра со всей необходимой энергетикой и рабочими средами. Все это оснащалось соответствующими системами и пультами управления. На барже были организованы жилой блок и хранилище для запаса рабочих сред (азот и тому подобное).
