1931 г. открылся рудник Еджид-Кырта, который по промышленному освоению стал одним из первых в Коми крае и снабжал топливом Печорское пароходство, местную промышленность. А в июле 1933 года грузовозом «Свердлов» был доставлен уголь в порт г.Архангельска. Потребителем здешнего угля были морской флот, северные порты, уголь вывозился на о.Вайгач.
В 1958 году после закрытия шахт,Еджид-Кырта уже стала посёлком лесозаготовителей.
