10 ноября 2008 года в 02:25 в Санкт-Петербурге на Университетской набережной произошел пожар. Общая площадь пожара составила 120 м². Пожару был присвоен повышенный номер сложности «1-бис». На тушение огня у пожарных ушло около часа. В результате почти полного выгорания надстройки теплоход Андромеда в 03:27 переломился и затонул. У пришвартованного рядом теплохода Персей выгорела носовая часть. Пострадавших нет. Причина возникновения огня — поджог или замыкание проводки. При подъёме судна на слип был серьёзно повреждён корпус
