Летом 1991 года НИС "Академик Королёв", НИС "Академик Ширшов", НИС "Профессор Хромов", УПС "Паллада", а также 17 яхт из различных регионов России участвовали в гуманистической юбилейной экспедиции "250-лет Русской Америки" (с заходом в порты Аляски, Сиэтл и Сан-Франциско)
