Вместимость 2213,1 брт, грузоподъемность 2500 тонн. Размерения 91,5 х 11 х 6,5 (м). Вертикальная паровая машина тройного расширения, мощность 1000 л.с.. Скорость хода 10 узлов.. Экипаж 30 человек. Судно принимало на борт 560 пассажиров. В 1895 году «Martha» в Киле прошла капитальный ремонт. В 1900 году германская фирма «Kieler Dampf Co AG» продала пароход «Martha» российскому предпринимателю И.С. Кошкину из Ростова на Дону. У него судно служило под наименованием «Мечта» и принимало на борт до 1000 пассажиров 3-го класса. В 1906 году владельцем «Мечты» стал Е.Т. Парамонов. В 1907 году пароход был приобретен РОПиТом. Судно служило там под прежним наименованием «Мечта», однако пребывание пассажиров на борту уже не предусматривалось. Портом его приписки остался Ростов.
