Проект разработан ЦКБ «Черноморец» (Севастополь) на базе большого морозильного рыболовного траулера (пр. 1288). Первоначально предназначался для Северного флота. После распада СССР был реквизирован Украиной.
С 03.2014 находится во временном подчинении 30 дивизии надводных кораблей КЧФ.
