| В.В. Каврайский (1884-1954)-ученый, гидрограф, картограф, инженер-контр-адмирал, исследователь Арктики. ОИС "В.Каврайский" вступило в состав ВМФ СССР 25.01.1970 г. С 1970 года выполняло океанографические работы в Баренцевом, Балтийском, Норвежском, Северном, Гренландском и Карском морях, осуществило десятки заходов в порты Германии, Дании, Польши и Канады: Росток, Варнемюнде, Торсхавн, Сент-Джонс. Пройдено 380000 миль (17 кругосветок),выполнено 37 экспедиционных походов, пройдено 300000 лин.км промера, выставлено 150000 буйковых и гидрологических станций. С 1970 по 2002 год на судне работало более 200 человек. Первый командир судна капитан 3 ранга Сырков Г.К. в 1973 году награжден орденом "Красной Звезды". |
